We Got a Grant!
I am immeasurably grateful to The Davis Foundation, who just gave us a $60,000 grant to accomplish our mission!
This is going to make a huge difference for us. As a friend of mine recently put it, we now have a runway to help us build momentum and show the world the difference that can be made when pro-life advocates are trained to be loving pro-life ambassadors with razor-sharp philosophical arguments at their disposal.
Here’s just one example of how this is going to help maximize our impact. I am speaking at the University of Portland next week with my formerly pro-choice friend Deanna. We will be speaking about what made our friendship work as well as practical tips for cultivating friendships with people from different political and cultural backgrounds. The event will be followed by a Q&A session. We wanted to make the audio of the event and other future events available, but to do that we needed to buy a portable digital audio recorder and two wireless mics. Before the grant I would have had a really hard time balancing the need of that purchase against the need to get a paycheck next month. Now I can make strategic purchases that will help us accomplish our mission without stressing about it.
So much of what Equal Rights Institute will accomplish in the coming months will be thanks to The Davis Foundation, and I couldn’t be more thankful.
